A Space to Settle
If you find yourself here, I have shared these practices with you.
Perhaps things feel overwhelming right now.
Perhaps you have been carrying a lot for a long time, or perhaps you simply need a little space for yourself.
These two practices are taken from Permission to Pause, a six-week programme designed to help you notice when you are reaching capacity, create space before reacting, and begin returning to yourself.
You might choose to use them over the next week and simply notice what changes.
There is nothing you need to achieve. Nothing to fix. Nothing to work out.
Just take your time, listen, and notice your own experience.
The Present Pause
The Present Pause is a short practice to help you interrupt the momentum of the day and return to the present moment.
You can use it whenever you notice yourself rushing, carrying too much, becoming overwhelmed, or moving automatically from one thing to the next.
You do not need to wait until things feel difficult.
You can pause simply because you are allowed to.
You may wish to return to this pause once or twice a day over the next week.
Notice how you feel before you listen.
Notice how you feel afterwards.
Notice whether even a small pause creates a little more space inside you.
The SettlingĀ Session
This longer settling session offers you the opportunity to slow down more fully, settle your system, and reconnect with yourself.
There is nothing you need to achieve while listening.
Simply find a comfortable place, press play, and allow yourself some time to settle.
Sometimes we do not need more information.
We simply need a little space to settle.
You might choose to listen when you have enough time not to rush into the next thing—perhaps after work, before bed, or whenever you notice that you have been carrying too much.Ā
Try These Practices for a Week
Over the next seven days, use the Present Pause during the day and return to the longer Settling Session whenever you have the time and space.
There is no right way to do this.
You are simply noticing.
You may begin to notice:
* how you feel before and after each practice;
* when you are beginning to reach capacity;
* whether you create more space before reacting;
* what you are carrying;
* what you need;
* whether you feel a little more connected to yourself.
Small moments of awareness can begin to change the way we move through our lives.
You may forget about these practices for a while.
That is okay.
They will still be here whenever you are ready to return.
Returning is part of the practice.Ā

Explore the Wider Work:
While you are using these practices, you are warmly invited to explore the wider work at your own pace.
You may wish to learn more about Permission to Pause, listen to the introductory audios, explore the four protective patterns, or read about why this work exists and the experiences that led me to create it.
There is no need to understand everything at once.
There is nothing you need to decide.
Take your time.
Use the pauses.
Notice your own experience.
Explore whatever feels relevant to you.
This is simply an invitation to experience the work and discover what it might offer you.
